Jonathan Urla, MFA, CPT, MES
With over thirty years experience teaching and working in New York's top health clubs and Pilates studios, Jonathan has helped people of all backgrounds, from ballet dancers to professional athletes, to clients with scoliosis, arthritis, and medical conditions like cancer and Parkinsons. After a career as a dancer and participating in various sports, Jonathan dedicated himself to learning exercise science, anatomy, physiology, and different methods of training the mind and body for peak performance. Committed to intelligent and holistic fitness, Jonathan began his yoga and Pilates training in 1995. He is recognized as an expert in the field of mind/body fitness and is also a certified Medical Exercise Specialist. Jonathan Urla co-founded CIFW to provide the ultimate in mind body training and education. His lifelong work has been to help people transform, heal, and energize their life to achieve their physical, mental, and spiritual potential. His work has been featured in numerous TV and media outlets, and his book Yogilates - Integrating Yoga and Pilates for Complete Fitness, was published by HarperCollins in 2002 and has been translated into seven languages.
In addition to teaching Pilates, Yoga, medical exercise, and functional movement, he has taught courses on the Science of Strength Training and Fitness Evaluation Technique at Hunter College, and dozens of workshops, seminars, and teacher training courses at yoga, Pilates, and fitness conferences around the world. An inspired and passionate leader, his methodology is to always focus on qualitative movement, precise alignment, progressive physical and mental skill development, and discipline in the positive sense of the word. Each exercise session is designed to be rewarding, challenging, fun, and inspiring.
